Malawi's Agriculture Labour Practices Progress Report

When the story of the successful war against human rights violations in the tobacco industry in Malawi is written, the past twelve months will feature highly. This is because it is the period that saw some key milestones achieved and a strong foundation for the elimination of human rights violations in tobacco laid.

Zimbabwe's Agricultural Labour Practices Code in Tobacco

The ALP in tobacco serves as a guide for the minimum standards of working, including family and hired labour, on tobacco farms, in auction floors and factories in Zimbabwe. It also provides a benchmark against which all Zimbabwean tobacco shall be evaluated for global compliance. All stakeholders are expected to apply this Code diligently and transparently to ensure the progressive elimination of child labour and forced labour, improve social and labour conditions and to uphold human rights on tobacco farms.

ALP Code Malawi

This Agriculture Labour Code is a proof and demonstration of Malawi's Tobacco Commission's dedication to producing clean tobacco and tobacco products that are safe. The ALP Code plays an important strategic role in ensuring uniformity and maintaining consistency in human rights programming throughout Malawi’s tobacco supply chain.
