ECLT launches three new e-learning courses in partnership with GAP Connections

The ECLT Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of three comprehensive e-learning courses developed in collaboration with GAP Connections. These newly released courses—Child Labour Overview, Young Workers in Agriculture, and Risk Assessment—represent a significant advancement in accessible training resources for stakeholders working to address child labour in agricultural settings.

Expanding knowledge resources through collaboration

The development of these courses builds upon the longstanding partnership between the ECLT Foundation and GAP Connections, combining expertise in agricultural best practices with specialised knowledge in child labour prevention and remediation.

These new courses reflect our commitment to providing practical, accessible tools for stakeholders throughout agricultural supply chains. By leveraging digital learning platforms, we can extend our reach and impact to more communities and organisations working on these critical issues.

Course offerings designed for practical implementation

The newly launched courses address key areas that stakeholders have identified as priorities for effective action:

Child Labour Overview provides foundational knowledge on identifying, preventing and addressing child labour in agricultural contexts. The course covers international standards, root causes, warning signs, and intervention strategies tailored to tobacco-growing communities.

Young Workers in Agriculture focuses on the important distinction between harmful child labour and appropriate work opportunities for young people. The course delivers clear guidance on age-appropriate tasks, safety considerations, supervision requirements, and balancing work with educational needs.

Risk Assessment equips participants with methodologies and tools to systematically identify, evaluate and mitigate risks related to labour practices. The course offers practical frameworks for implementing effective risk management systems across agricultural operations.

Making knowledge accessible

The courses have been designed with diverse stakeholders in mind, from large agricultural enterprises to small-scale farmers and community organisations. Each course includes downloadable resources and practical tools that participants can immediately apply in their work contexts. "One of our primary goals was to make these courses accessible to stakeholders at all levels," noted Jane Smith, Training Coordinator at GAP Connections. "The content is presented in clear, actionable formats with plenty of real-world examples and practical guidance."

Supporting the ECLT Pledge

The new e-learning offerings directly support implementation of the ECLT Pledge, which recently marked its 10th anniversary. By providing consistent, standardised training resources, the courses help signatories and other stakeholders build capacity to meet their commitments to eliminating child labour. The courses are available now on the ECLT e-learning platform. Organisations interested in registering multiple participants can contact the ECLT Foundation for information on group access options.
